Description
Description
Peaceful Valley Sierra Foothill Dryland Mix is a cool-season pasture and erosion-control blend for foothill sites below approximately 3,000 feet. It combines reseeding annual clovers with Blando brome and orchardgrass to provide seasonal forage, ground coverage, fibrous and taproot growth, and biological nitrogen fixation.
The mix contains Denmark, Gosse, Campeda, and Losa subclovers, Hykon rose clover, Blando brome, and orchardgrass. It is best sown in late summer or fall before dependable seasonal rain. Prepare a firm, weed-free seedbed, drill or broadcast evenly, and cover lightly. Where natural reseeding is desired, allow a portion of the clovers and brome to flower and mature seed before final grazing or mowing.
Performance will vary with rainfall, soil depth and fertility, slope, competition, and grazing pressure. The mix can reduce exposed soil after establishment, but it does not replace engineered stabilization on hazardous slopes or drainage channels.
- Application rate: 25 lb per acre for pasture; 25–50 lb per acre for erosion control
- Germination: Approximately 7–14 days for the fastest components
- Plant height: Up to approximately 3 feet
- Inoculant: No additional inoculant is normally needed; the clover components are Nitrocoated with compatible inoculant.
- Uses: Foothill pasture, seasonal forage, orchard understory, erosion control, and managed reseeding
Browse additional cover crop and pasture seed.
Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.

They mean it when they say quick growth in the description. I planted this in a area where I had tractor work done and it grew quite nicely in the bare dirt.
