Description
Description
The General Hydroponics Water Test Kit is a single-use screening kit for checking copper, iron, lead, nitrate and nitrite, bacteria, pesticide-related compounds, pH, hardness, and chlorine against the kit’s reference ranges. It provides an at-home snapshot, not a certified laboratory analysis or a diagnosis of water quality.
- Single-use screening format
- Multiple test strips or components
- Follow timing and color-comparison directions exactly
- Use a certified laboratory for confirmation
Collect the sample as directed, keep hands and containers clean, and read each result within its specified time window. If a result is elevated, inconsistent, or connected with a change in taste, odor, color, illness, flooding, or well service, stop relying on the kit alone and contact the appropriate local health authority or accredited laboratory. Store components sealed and check the expiration date before testing.

I'd consider this more of a screening than a test. Testing required some wait time and some detailed instructions to follow. I'd compare this to a middle school level chemistry lab activity. You get the results as you test with one test having to sit overnight. There are tests available where you send a water sample to a lab and the results are posted online. This is NOT that type of test. The lab test would seem more accurate but also cost more. As I said, I recommend this as a screen with followup testing if needed.
