Sow into a prepared, fine-textured seedbed and keep the shallow seed zone evenly moist during germination. Thin more closely for young leaf harvests or give selected plants additional room when you want fuller heads. Since the mix contains several lettuce forms, harvest decisions do not need to be identical across the bed. Cut young leaves when they reach a useful size, or leave promising butterhead and romaine plants to develop longer. In warming weather, monitor moisture and plant condition closely because individual varieties can respond differently.

Mix proportions will vary, and every variety may not appear in a small sample. Emergence, color balance, maturity, and final head form can vary with the seeds sown, seasonal conditions, spacing, and harvest timing. Retain a few plants of each visible leaf type before making a large first cut if seeing the broadest range of the mix is important to you. For cut-and-come-again use, leave the central growing point intact and allow plants time to replace harvested foliage. For mature heads, thin or transplant selected seedlings so neighboring plants do not crowd their final form. Label the bed as a mix so differences in color, leaf shape, and maturity are treated as expected variation rather than off-types.
