Dutch White Clover - Nitrocoated Seed (lb)

Good for Shady Areas

Trifolium repens - perennial legume seed cover crop

Looking for a hardy clover variety that thrives in partial shade and full sun? Our white clover seed is premium Dutch white clover (Trifolium repens), a low-growing perennial legume ideal for lawns, cover cropping, and erosion control.

Why Choose White Dutch Clover?

This resilient clover variety is the lowest-growing white Dutch clover, perfect for turf as it tolerates mowing, spreads quickly, chokes out weeds, and fixes nitrogen naturally—improving soil health without chemical fertilizers. It grows up to 8" tall and prefers moist, well-drained soil with lime, phosphate, and potash. Adversely affected by synthetic nitrogen, it performs best in organic settings.

Planting Instructions & Seeding Rate:

  • Seeding rate: 0.5–1 lb per 1,000 square feet or 8-10 lbs per acre
  • Plant 0.25"–0.5" deep in early spring or fall
  • Germination in 5–10 days
  • No inoculant needed; seed is nitrocoated
  • Grows in USDA Zones 3-10

Common Uses:

Ideal for lawns, white Dutch clover provides lush ground cover, controls erosion, and enhances turf resilience. Use it as a cover crop to enrich vegetable gardens or fields naturally.

Enhance your landscape with Dutch white clover—a sustainable, low-maintenance option for soil improvement and beautiful, green growth.

Staff at Grow Organic - 5 stars

All the staff at grow organic were outstanding! What a treasure! They helped with confirming they had what I needed, loaded the truck, helped me figure my taxation and even offered advice in the future for consulting about organic growing!
Awesome all the way around!!

Easy to sow

Germinates quickly, within a week. Great coverage and minimal to no weeds. Hard to grow grass in desert climate and this did a phenomenal job of filling in gaps.

Wonderful! Will buy again

Easy to sow, sprouted within one week with a light cover of straw. I’ll be ordering more in fall.
