The sweet, mild flavor is ideal for fresh coleslaws, stir-fries, and steaming, while its firm texture ensures excellent performance in soups and stews. Schedule Golden Acre Cabbage for the cool-season planting window appropriate to your climate. Start seed in a protected setting or direct sow when the product record allows, then thin or transplant so each plant has room to develop. Check moisture at root depth and adjust irrigation to weather and soil rather than a universal schedule. As maturity approaches, inspect head, stem, or leaf development according to the crop type and harvest at the preferred size and firmness.

This variety is cold-tolerant, performing well in both spring and fall gardens.

Its compact growth habit makes it suitable for tight spaces, raised beds, or interplanting with other vegetables.

Golden Acre Cabbage is resistant to common cabbage pests and diseases, ensuring healthy growth and high-quality heads.

Before sowing Golden Acre Cabbage, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care

Soil and Water: Cabbage prefers rich, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5. Water heavily from planting to head formation, then water moderately to prevent splitting.

Planting and Growing: Start indoors 8 weeks before last frost, or outdoors March through June. Cabbage prefers cool weather. Fast growing or stressed cabbages tend to split and bolt; cutting into the root system by transplanting will slow growth and prevent splitting. Provide transplants with cutworm shield collars.

Harvesting and Storage: Harvest when the head feels solid. Smaller heads sometimes grow from the remaining plant. Golden Acre does not hold on the plant well, but it can be stored if it is picked when the head is firm and hasn't lost any color.
