Description
Description
Hairy Beardtongue brings soft lavender, pale purple, and white trumpet-shaped flowers to the early summer garden. Fine hairs cover its slender stems, and the blooms have a fuzzy lower lip that gives the plant its distinctive name. At roughly 1–2 feet tall, it offers the flower form of a penstemon in a size suited to the front of a border.
Use this adaptable perennial in rock gardens, cottage-style plantings, or open woodland edges where its smaller stature can be seen. Early flowers provide nectar for bumblebees and hummingbirds before many later perennials begin blooming. Its lance-shaped foliage can take on golden-red tones in autumn, adding interest after the flowers finish. Each packet contains 250 certified organic seeds. Fall sowing allows the seed to receive natural winter chilling.
