Peaceful Valley Low-Growing Clover Mix - Nitrocoated Seed (lb)
A Resilient Ground Cover for Orchards, Vineyards, and Pathways
Peaceful Valley Low-Growing Clover Mix—formerly Tree & Vine Mix—is a perennial living ground cover for irrigated, mowed orchards and vineyards. Dutch white clover and Palestine strawberry clover combine complementary climate preferences: white clover performs well in cooler conditions and partial shade, while strawberry clover tolerates warmer, sunnier sites and neutral to alkaline soils.
Once established, the mix forms a mowable clover sod that protects the soil surface, competes with some weeds, supports pollinators when allowed to flower, and contributes biologically fixed nitrogen. Actual nitrogen contribution and weed suppression vary with stand density, soil fertility, moisture, mowing, and how much residue remains on site; it should not be treated as a guaranteed fertilizer replacement.
Plant in fall or spring into a firm, weed-free seedbed. Broadcast or drill shallowly, keep the surface moist through germination, and delay traffic or mowing until seedlings are well rooted. Periodic mowing helps maintain a lower orchard-floor cover, but leave some flowering areas if pollinator forage is an objective. Monitor for slugs and gophers during establishment.
- Seeding rate: ½–1 lb per 1,000 sq ft or 20–25 lb per acre
- Planting depth: ¼–½ inch
- Germination: Approximately 5–10 days
- Plant height: Approximately 16 inches when unmowed
- Inoculant: No additional inoculant is normally needed; the clover seed is Nitrocoated with compatible inoculant.
- Uses: Orchard and vineyard floor cover, living mulch, erosion protection, pollinator forage, and green manure

Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.

Bare newly graded terraces in our zone 5 orchard needed cover quickly. Planted this mix two years ago and it has worked well. Good soil coverage including steep rocky slopes and it has choked out the tall weeds including 2 types of thistle.
I'm trying this blend out to overseed my lawn. With the ongoing water issues locally. I wanted to reduce my summer water usage on my lawn. Rather than have a dead lawn. I'm trying to overseed with this so I can drastically reduce my water usage. Hope it works! I'll report back. The seed looks great and is sprouting already.
It is coming up nicely in difficult areas. I am very pleased!
Product looked, good. Clover is not spouted yet.
LOVE this blend! I use it in my orchard as well as my chicken acrea and it has helped with absorption and has already softened by clay. Chickens love eating it and it keeps growing back
