Description

Peaceful Valley Low Rainfall Dryland Pasture Mix is a reseeding annual-legume blend for dryland sites receiving approximately 10–18 inches of annual rainfall. It combines rose clover, several subclovers, annual medics, and Persian clover to provide cool-season forage, soil cover, taproot growth, and biological nitrogen fixation.

The listed formulation contains Hykon rose clover, Losa, Campeda, and Antas subclovers, Scimitar medic, Paraggio medic, and Nitro Persian clover. Earlier copy incorrectly described the mix as containing hard fescue, wheatgrasses, and yellow sweet clover; those species are not listed components of this product.

Plant in fall before dependable seasonal rain. Prepare a firm, weed-free seedbed, distribute seed evenly, and cover lightly. Annual legumes must be allowed to flower and produce mature seed if natural reseeding is desired. Adjust grazing so livestock do not remove all spring flowers and seed heads. Establishment and persistence depend on rainfall timing, soil conditions, competition, and grazing pressure.

  • Application rate: Drill at 25 lb per acre; broadcast at 30 lb per acre
  • Plant height: Up to approximately 2 feet
  • Inoculant: No additional inoculant is normally needed; the legume seed is Nitrocoated with compatible inoculant.
  • Uses: Dryland pasture, seasonal forage, nitrogen fixation, soil cover, and managed reseeding

Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.
