Description

Trifolium repens var. Perennial legume cover crop.

White Clover is our best-selling perennial clover, often planted in lawns, irrigated orchards, vineyards, and pathways. Similar to Dutch White Clover but slightly taller, it grows 8–10" high and establishes quickly within 5–10 days. Adaptable and dependable, it can contribute nitrogen-rich growth when effectively nodulated while improving soil structure, suppressing erosion, and attracting beneficial insects. Thriving in moist, well-drained soils, it tolerates a wide pH range from acidic to moderately alkaline, provided lime, phosphate, and potash are adequate. Sensitive to synthetic nitrogen inputs, it performs best in fall or spring plantings and excels in high-traffic and irrigated systems.

  • Application Rate: 0.25"-0.5" deep at 0.5-1 lb/1000 sq ft or 12-18 lb/acre
  • Inoculant: No additional inoculant is needed. The legume seed is already coated with the appropriate Rhizobium bacteria to support nodulation and nitrogen fixation.
  • Germination: 5–10 Days
  • Plant Height: 8–10"
  • Uses: Beneficial insect habitat, erosion control, green manure, pasture, cover crop
  • Facts to Note: Best planted in fall or spring. Nitrogen contribution varies with nodulation, stand growth, soil conditions, and management. Performs well on acid to moderately alkaline soils but prefers moist, well-drained sites with adequate lime, phosphate, and potash. Adversely affected by synthetic nitrogen applications.

Made to order. Minimum order quantity is 50 pounds.

Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.
