New Zealand White Clover - Nitrocoated Seed (lb)
Our Best Selling White Clover
Trifolium repens var. Perennial legume cover crop.
White Clover is our best-selling perennial clover, often planted in lawns, irrigated orchards, vineyards, and pathways. Similar to Dutch White Clover but slightly taller, it grows 8–10" high and establishes quickly within 5–10 days. Adaptable and dependable, it fixes up to 165 pounds of nitrogen per acre while improving soil structure, suppressing erosion, and attracting beneficial insects. Thriving in moist, well-drained soils, it tolerates a wide pH range from acidic to moderately alkaline, provided lime, phosphate, and potash are adequate. Sensitive to synthetic nitrogen inputs, it performs best in fall or spring plantings and excels in high-traffic and irrigated systems.
- Application Rate: 0.25–0.5" deep at 0.5–1 lb/1,000 sq ft or 12–18 lb/acre
- Inoculant: None needed, seed is nitrocoated
- Germination: 5–10 Days
- Plant Height: 8–10"
- Uses: Beneficial insect habitat, erosion control, green manure, pasture, cover crop
- Facts to Note: Best planted in fall or spring. Fixes up to 165 lb/acre of nitrogen. Performs well on acid to moderately alkaline soils but prefers moist, well-drained sites with adequate lime, phosphate, and potash. Adversely affected by synthetic nitrogen applications.
Made to order. Minimum order quantity is 50 pounds.
Note to Certified Organic Growers from Manufacturer: Nitro-coated seed is conventionally grown seed that has had an organically accepted seed coating applied to it. The seed itself is conventionally grown, non-GMO, and untreated (no fungicides or insecticide seed treatment applied) prior to coating. The seed coat consists of certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder (glue), and peat peat-based inoculant that is also OMRI-approved and organically accepted. The seed coating is applied in a OMRI-approved process in a separate treatment line that only produces Nitro-coated seeds.

These seeds germinated in less than a week and are coming in well even though I spread them a little late in the season (early November).
I was looking for an easy to sow clover that would fill in some spots. This has done great every where I put it.
I have tried many things to keep my soil covered and protected, and to keep the biomass growing, and this is my favorite. It takes very little maintenance. I’m using it to replace as much of my grass as I can. This clover is a dream compared to grass! And if it gets too tall for my likes, I can even mow it easily (though it takes forever to get tall, as opposed to our grass here in NC where it needs to be mowed every 3-4 days). Thanks for the great product!
