Description
Description
Organic Duganski seed garlic is a standard Purple Stripe hardneck associated with garlic collected from a Samarkand, Uzbekistan, bazaar in 1989. Some sellers use the similar name Dunganski for a different Marbled Purple Stripe, so the distinction matters. This Duganski selection offers richly striped bulbs, easy-peel cloves, lively heat, and edible scapes.
Mix & match savings. This item is eligible for the Garlic Mix & Match discount. Combine eligible seed garlic and shallots to save 10% at 3 pounds, 15% at 10 pounds, or 20% at 30 pounds. The discount is applied automatically in the cart.
Duganski rewards growers twice: first with broad purple striping in the garden harvest, and again with lively flavor in the kitchen. The red-violet cloves look striking when a bulb is opened, making this a natural choice for market tables, gifts, or a labeled tasting collection. Its curling scapes are delicious picked young, and its Central Asian collecting history gives gardeners a crop with a story worth passing along.
Raw Duganski is assertive and spicy, making it useful in salsa, pesto, dressings, and ferments where garlic should remain noticeable. Heat softens with cooking and gives way to a full, lingering garlic flavor. Roast whole cloves, fold them into mashed vegetables, or use them in soups, beans, marinades, and braises. The colorful cloves are also attractive when separated for a market or pantry display.
When growing Duganski, settle the cloves into a sunny fall bed where winter can provide the cold period this Purple Stripe prefers. Keep the shallow root zone evenly moist and lightly weeded once spring growth takes off. Snip the scapes while they are still curled for a tender early harvest. Around mid-summer, use the browning lower leaves as your cue to dig, then cure the vividly striped bulbs in shade before trimming them.

Limited Seed Garlic Guarantee (When Planted by November 15th)
Claim Deadline is 45 Days from Purchase or Delivery. (Claims placed after December 31st will be denied.)
What We Guarantee
Our only guarantee is that the seed garlic we sell will germinate, provided you follow the steps listed in our Garlic Planting & Growing Guide. This guarantee is only available to customers who purchase their seed garlic directly from us.
What We Cannot Guarantee
We cannot guarantee that your garlic will remain alive & healthy, or sizes up properly, as there are too many variables beyond our control to be able to do so (i.e. soil preparation, fertilization, weed and pest control, temperature control, irrigation, etc).
How to Request a Credit
If you encounter a significant lack of germination of your garlic (over 50%), please contact us within 45 days of delivery. If we determine that your garlic had a significant lack of germination, we will issue you a credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of your garlic (excluding shipping).* This 45-day time frame is meant to allow you up to 2 weeks to plant your garlic, and up to 4 weeks to check for signs of growth.
(*) We reserve the right to not issue credit for items already replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence of the lack of germination of your garlic.
