Description
Description
Organic French Tarragon is a certified organic culinary-herb start valued for narrow green leaves with a concentrated anise-like aroma. The flavor is central to fines herbes, béarnaise-style sauces, vinaigrettes, eggs, poultry, fish, and vegetables. Unlike seed-grown Russian tarragon, true French tarragon is generally maintained by division or cuttings, making a live start the practical way to establish the authentic culinary type.
This tender perennial is listed for seasonal or perennial use across USDA Zones 4–11, with dependable overwintering influenced by drainage and local cold. It grows in full sun or part sun. No fruit-tree chill total or pollinizer partner is required. Use the USDA Growing Zone lookup and local winter information to decide whether to grow it in the ground or a movable container.
Plant at the original root-ball depth in loose, well-drained soil. Water thoroughly after transplanting, then maintain moderate moisture while roots establish without keeping the crown wet. In regions with cold, wet winters, a raised position or container can improve control over drainage. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which encourages soft growth and can dilute the herb’s concentrated flavor.
Harvest young stem tips regularly, leaving lower leafy growth for recovery. Fresh tarragon generally preserves its character better than prolonged drying; chopped leaves can also be frozen or infused into vinegar. Divide established clumps when the center thins or vigor declines. Monitor for mites, aphids, leaf spots, and crown rot rather than assuming the plant is unaffected by problems. Follow the nursery-start transplant guide and consult the annual and perennial herb harvesting guide for cutting and storage.

Guarantee
We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
