Description

Peaceful Valley Dryland Erosion Fire Recovery Mix combines quick-establishing annual grasses with clovers and common vetch to provide seasonal ground coverage on exposed or disturbed soil, including sites affected by wildfire.

Intermediate ryegrass, annual ryegrass, and Blando brome develop fibrous roots that help hold surface soil. The clovers and common vetch add legume diversity, deeper rooting, and potential nitrogen fixation when the appropriate inoculant is present.

  • Contains: Intermediate Ryegrass, Annual Ryegrass, Blando Brome, Hykon Rose Clover, Balansa Clover, Persian Clover, Losa Subclover, and Common Vetch
  • Application rate: 30–35 lb per acre or approximately 1 lb per 1,000 sq ft
  • Planting time: October through November where fall establishment is appropriate
  • Seed treatment: The clover components are Nitrocoated. Common Vetch is uncoated.
  • Inoculant: No additional inoculant is needed for the Nitrocoated clovers. For nodulation and nitrogen fixation by the uncoated Common Vetch, use a compatible Pea-Vetch-Lentil inoculant.

Where possible, cover seed lightly—no more than approximately ¼ inch—and provide good seed-to-soil contact. When broadcasting onto loose ash or exposed soil, time planting before dependable rain where practical. On steep sites, a light straw or hay cover can help protect seed and surface soil.

Growth will slow as temperatures decline and resume when spring conditions become favorable. Establishment and winter survival depend on elevation, snow cover, moisture, and planting date.

Note for certified organic growers: This is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed. The Nitrocoated clover components use an OMRI-listed coating containing powdered limestone, an approved binder, and compatible peat-based inoculant. Common Vetch is not Nitrocoated.
