Description

Peaceful Valley Herbal Irrigated Pasture Mix broadens a pasture beyond conventional grasses and clovers. Orchardgrass, Timothy, perennial and annual ryegrasses, and Martin Fescue form the grass base. Clover, alfalfa, sweet clover, milk vetch, and birdsfoot trefoil add legumes, while chicory, plantain, burnet, parsley, yarrow, and fennel introduce deep-rooted herbs and additional forage textures.

The mixture is designed for irrigated pasture where several rooting depths and growth habits can be supported. Grasses provide fibrous roots and grazing structure; legumes contribute nitrogen fixation and protein-rich growth; herbs such as chicory and plantain explore deeper portions of the soil profile. Because species respond differently to heat, moisture, grazing, and fertility, pasture composition will naturally shift over time.

Establish in a prepared seedbed with reliable irrigation and protect young plants from close grazing. Introduce livestock gradually and use rotational grazing appropriate to the animal species, season, and stand condition. Diverse pasture does not eliminate risks such as bloat, nitrate accumulation, poisonous look-alike plants, or dietary imbalance, so monitor the stand and seek livestock-specific guidance when needed. The legume seed is Nitrocoated with compatible Rhizobium bacteria, so no additional inoculant is required.

  • Contains: Orchardgrass, Timothy Grass, Perennial Ryegrass, Annual Ryegrass, Burnet, Red Clover, Martin Fescue, New Zealand White Clover, Chicory, Parsley, Alfalfa, Yellow Sweet Clover, Milk Vetch, Plantain, Birdsfoot Trefoil, White Yarrow, and Fennel
  • Application Rate: 20–25 lb per acre or approximately 1 lb per 1,000 sq ft
  • Inoculant: No additional inoculant is needed. The legume seed is already coated with the appropriate Rhizobium bacteria to support nodulation and nitrogen fixation.
  • Plant Height: Approximately 3–4 feet, depending on species and management
  • Uses: Irrigated pasture, diverse forage, nitrogen fixation, deep rooting, and mixed-species soil coverage
  • Establishment: Provide consistent irrigation and delay close grazing until seedlings are well rooted
  • Management: Use rotational grazing and monitor how species composition changes over time

Note to Certified Organic Growers from the Manufacturer: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed that was untreated with fungicide or insecticide before coating. The coating consists of certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant. The coating is applied through an OMRI-approved process on a treatment line dedicated to Nitrocoated seed.
