Description
Description
Purplestem Aster extends the garden’s season with loose sprays of lavender-purple flowers around golden centers. The fine petals and branching stems give a planting a soft, airy appearance as summer shifts toward fall. Its flowers provide nectar and pollen for native bees, so the late display has value beyond its color.
This perennial is a useful choice for a moist border or a naturalistic planting where taller stems have room to develop. It grows in full sun or partial shade and performs best in soil that stays on the moist side. Place it behind lower plants, or repeat it through a larger bed to carry late-season color across the planting. Each packet contains 250 certified organic seeds. Cold treatment is required before germination.
