Soil & Water: Add plenty of compost to the soil to encourage rapid growth. Water evenly and moderately to prevent bitterness.
Planting & Growing: Sow direct or start indoors in flats about 3-4 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Keep soil cool, below 75°F, until germinated. Harden off transplants before planting outdoors. Succession plant every 3 weeks for a continuous supply. Lettuce likes full sun except in hot summer climates where it prefers some shade, especially in the afternoon. Use shade cloth in summer to keep plants cooler.
Harvesting & Storage: Harvest the entire plant when mature, but still young and crisp. All lettuces are at their best when picked as needed and used immediately.
