Description
Description
With this special strain, sweet lavender is now easier to start from seed. The wonderful Hidcote has the loveliest perfume of all the English lavenders. The long blooming plants with their soft narrow silvery foliage and vivid, deep purple velvety calyxes make beautiful landscape plants. Cut and hang in the richly scented flower spikes upside down in a cool place for fragrant long-lasting bouquets and sachets, or leave the blooms to charm your senses and attract a flotilla of summer butterflies.

Match ‘Lavender Hidcote’ Scented Herb to the light, soil, and temperature information recorded for the species. Some herbs are direct sown, while others benefit from a protected start or species-specific pretreatment, so retain the packet for reference. Keep seed media from drying during establishment without leaving it saturated. Once plants are growing, harvest modestly so foliage remains for continued development. Assign perennial herbs a long-term location, and consider containers for species with a spreading habit.
Before sowing ‘Lavender Hidcote’ Scented Herb, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Planting: In early spring, sow lavender seeds 1" apart in a container of seed starting mix, cover very lightly and keep at 65°F. Keep container moist but not soggy until seedlings slowly emerge over 14 - 25 days, providing a good light source. When seedlings have several sets of leaves, transplant 2" apart into deeper containers. Plant outside in a well-drained sunny spot when plants are 2 - 3" tall after gradually acclimating to outdoor conditions.
Growing: Because perennial lavender's small seeds germinate slowly and unevenly, we strongly recommend starting them indoors so you can tend them carefully. Plants flower lightly the first season and come into full bloom by their second summer. After blooming season, prune and shape the plants while cutting off spent flower stalks.
