Kitchen Herbs Scented Basil Trio Seed Mix
Kitchen Herbs Scented Basil Trio Seed Mix
Flavorful Basil Ensemble
The Garden Kitchen Herbs Scented Basil Trio offers an aromatic blend of basil cultivars originating from various regions, each presenting unique fragrances, appearances, and culinary uses. Basil, scientifically known as Ocimum basilicum, holds a rich historical significance and is celebrated for its diverse flavors.
This trio encompasses three distinct basil variants: Genovese, Lemon, and Purple Ruffles. Genovese basil, originating from Italy, boasts large, aromatic leaves with a sweet, robust flavor, perfect for pesto and Italian cuisine. Lemon basil, with its citrusy aroma and mild lemon taste, adds a refreshing twist to salads and seafood dishes. Purple Ruffles basil showcases ornamental foliage, with deep purple, serrated leaves and a mild, sweet flavor, serving as a visual and flavorful addition to salads and garnishes.
Cultivating these basil varieties from seed demands specific growing conditions. Start seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, using well-draining soil. Once seedlings have developed a few sets of leaves, transplant them into nutrient-rich soil with ample sunlight exposure.
Basil thrives in warm environments with plenty of sunlight, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Consistent watering and well-drained soil are crucial for optimal growth. With proper care, this Scented Basil Trio flourishes, offering both visual charm and a versatile range of flavors to elevate culinary creations.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Plant in full sun in well-draining soil. Basil does not require fertile soil, however it performs best when organic matter is added. Provide even water throughout development.
Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost, or sow directly once soil temperatures have reached at least 70°F. Pinch ends during development for a bushy plant. Sow heavily and thin to the most vigorous seedlings. Basil will not perform below 50°F; pot indoors during winter for a year-round supply.
Harvesting & Storage: Regular harvesting will keep production high. Use leaves fresh or frozen. Remove flower stalks to extend harvest. Be sure to make the last harvest prior to first frost.

I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
