Growing Crocus Bulbs
Crocus bulbs are easy to plant and grow, thriving in various settings from formal beds to naturalized lawns—perfect for gardeners of all levels.
Climate and Soil Requirements
Best grown in USDA zones 3–9, crocuses prefer sunny to partly shaded areas with well-drained loamy or sandy soil to prevent rot.
Planting Time and Depth
Plant crocus bulbs in fall, 6–8 weeks before frost, about 3 inches deep and 1–2 inches apart, ideally in clusters for visual impact.
Sunlight and Watering
They thrive in full sun or light shade and require minimal watering once established; avoid soggy soil to prevent bulb rot.
Care and Maintenance
Let foliage die back naturally after blooming; crocuses multiply over time and need little maintenance once established.
Multiple High-Quality Brands for Greater Choice
At Grow Organic, we offer our Large Flowering Crocus Bulb Mix through several trusted, high-quality brands. This gives our customers a broader selection of premium bulbs, ensuring top-tier performance, robust growth, and vibrant bloom color. Choose the brand that best suits your garden’s needs and rest assured that every option meets our rigorous standards for health, size, and sustainability.
Design Ideas and Landscape Uses
Plant the Crocus Large Flowering Mix in borders, walkways, containers, or between stepping stones for a vibrant spring show. Underplant them beneath deciduous trees or shrubs, where they’ll bloom before foliage blocks sunlight. In lawns, plant in scattered drifts for a naturalized meadow effect that returns year after year with increasing beauty.
Complementing Other Bulbs
For a multi-season bulb display, crocuses pair beautifully with snowdrops, tulips, daffodils, and scilla. To extend the bloom season, consider combining early-, mid-, and late-spring blooming varieties. We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
