Honeoye Strawberry Plants by the Box (1500)

Culinary Strawberry Excellence

(Fragaria x ananassa 'Honeoye') stands as a noteworthy cultivar within the Fragaria genus, distinguished by its compelling attributes and horticultural resilience.

Honeoye Strawberries exhibit a compact herbaceous growth habit, attaining a modest height of 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) with a corresponding spread. Its foliage is characterized by medium-green, serrated leaves arranged in a compound formation, composed of three leaflets. These leaves coalesce to form a dense rosette at the base of the plant.

The fruits borne by the Honeoye Strawberry plant are medium-sized and possess a characteristic conical shape. When ripe, they exhibit a vibrant, glossy red exterior, enticing both sight and palate.

Honeoye Strawberries thrive under ample sunlight, though they tolerate partial shade. They manifest their best potential when receiving a minimum of 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

The harvesting of Honeoye Strawberries is an art requiring attention to detail. Ripe strawberries should exhibit a uniform, vibrant red hue and a delectable aroma. The fruit should readily detach from the stem upon gentle manipulation.

Strawberries are extremely adaptable and are grown in every state in the U.S. Plants generally grow 6-8" tall and 12" across, are shallow-rooted, and benefit from mulch such as straw, pine needles, or plastic. Prefer a soil rich in all the basic nutrients with a pH of 6 to 6.5. Susceptible to root rot and must be planted in well-drained soil, with crown set at soil level. Yield under the best of conditions is about one basket per plant per season.

June Bearers generally produce a single large crop in spring to early summer (as early as March in warmer regions) and are prolific producers for 3 to 4 weeks. Pick the blossoms off June bearers the first year to boost production the second year.

Everbearers are not as prolific as June bearers but are especially suitable for growers who wish to harvest a constant supply of berries throughout the summer. Plant some of both to have a large harvest to preserve, and plenty to eat all summer!

Good plants

Arrived in good condition and I'd say shipped by weight not number. Huge well packed heavy box. I bet closer to 2000 plants.
