Ozark Beauty Strawberry Plants by the Box (1500)

Nature's Juicy Delight

(Fragaria x ananassa 'Ozark Beauty') represent a distinguished cultivar cherished for its exceptional attributes and adaptability. These strawberry plants exhibit distinct features that warrant attention.

Ozark Beauty Strawberry plants are herbaceous perennials with compact growth, typically reaching a height of 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) and a commensurate spread. Their foliage consists of medium-green, compound leaves, serrated and comprising three leaflets, forming a dense rosette at the plant's base.

The fruits borne by Ozark Beauty Strawberries are medium-sized and conical in shape. A striking glossy red exterior marks their ripeness, appealing to both the eye and palate.

Ozark Beauty Strawberries flourish under full sun, though they tolerate partial shade. For optimal results, a minimum of 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily is recommended.

Soil should be well-draining and fertile, with an ideal pH range of slightly acidic to neutral (approximately 6.0-6.5). Adequate soil preparation is vital for robust growth and prolific fruit production. Consistent moisture levels are essential; thus, regular watering is necessary to maintain soil moisture without waterlogging.

Harvesting Ozark Beauty Strawberries is an art. Ripe strawberries display a uniform, vivid red color, emit a delectable aroma, and detach easily from the stem with a gentle tug. Employing proper harvesting techniques preserves fruit quality and flavor.

Strawberries are extremely adaptable and are grown in every state in the U.S. Plants generally grow 6-8" tall and 12" across, are shallow-rooted, and benefit from mulch such as straw, pine needles, or plastic. Prefer a soil rich in all the basic nutrients with a pH of 6 to 6.5. Susceptible to root rot and must be planted in well-drained soil, with crown set at soil level. Yield under the best of conditions is about one basket per plant per season.

June Bearers generally produce a single large crop in spring to early summer (as early as March in warmer regions) and are prolific producers for 3 to 4 weeks. Pick the blossoms off June bearers the first year to boost production the second year.

Everbearers are not as prolific as June bearers but are especially suitable for growers who wish to harvest a constant supply of berries throughout the summer. Plant some of both to have a large harvest to preserve, and plenty to eat all summer!
