Description
Frantoio olive
Frantoio (Olea europaea 'Frantoio') is a classic Italian oil cultivar with an open crown, long flexible fruiting branches, and medium elongated olives. It is vigorous but less densely upright than many oil olives. This item is one living potted standard tree and is not sold as certified organic.
- Plant form: One potted nursery olive tree
- Origin and use: Italian cultivar grown primarily for oil
- USDA zones: 8–10
- Chill requirement: Approximately 300–400 hours
- Light: Full sun
- Pollination: Often capable of setting some fruit alone; Leccino or Pendolino may improve set where bloom overlaps
- Harvest: Fruit can be collected from green through purple stages according to oil goals
Planting and branch support
Place Frantoio in well-drained soil with broad sun exposure. Keep the original root-ball surface even with the final grade, water thoroughly, and prevent water from standing around the trunk. Irrigate regularly during establishment, then adjust frequency to soil, weather, and plant response. A tree retained in a container needs a durable pot, unobstructed drainage, and more frequent moisture checks.
Develop a balanced framework while preserving the flexible fruiting laterals that distinguish the cultivar. Thin crossing wood, remove damaged branches, and keep the center open enough for light and harvest access. Avoid severe annual heading, which can replace fruiting wood with vigorous shoots.
Harvest planning
Oil yield and flavor shift as fruit matures, so choose a harvest stage that suits the intended processing method. Picked olives should be milled promptly with appropriate equipment. For table use, fruit must be cured; it is not edible straight from the tree. Consult the olive growing guide, shop olive trees, or browse all potted fruit trees.

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.

I ordered three separate olive cultivars, and they arrived on time with lush and vibrant leaves, healthy and erect. I will definitely consult this website and order from it any trees or plants that I need in future. I highly recommend this seller.
