Description

Organic Hidcote Lavender is a certified organic English lavender start selected for a compact mound and intensely colored purple-blue flowers. Compared with broader lavandins, Hidcote is particularly useful along paths, in smaller containers, at the front of a dry border, or repeated as a low aromatic edging. The flower stems can be enjoyed fresh or dried.

This perennial is listed for USDA Zones 5–9 and needs full sun with excellent drainage. Winter performance depends on both temperature and how quickly water moves away from the crown. Compare your site with the USDA Growing Zone lookup. A pollinizer partner and fruit-tree chill-hour total are not required for this herb.

Plant the nursery start at its existing soil level and water thoroughly after transplanting. Monitor moisture closely during the first season, especially where the light nursery mix meets heavier garden soil. As roots establish, allow moderate drying between irrigation events and avoid keeping the crown continuously wet. In a container, use a drainage hole and a mix suited to Mediterranean herbs.

Harvest spikes when lower florets begin to open for drying, or let more of the stem bloom for garden display. Lightly shape green growth after flowering to preserve the dense form, but do not cut deeply into old bare stems. Flowers intended for culinary use should be positively identified and free from unapproved applications. Inspect for mites, leaf spotting, and root decline rather than relying on blanket pest or disease claims. The transplant guide for nursery starts provides establishment steps, and the herb harvesting guide covers cutting and drying. This smaller start offers the same cultivar identity as the one-gallon record but requires more establishment time.

Guarantee

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
