Peaceful Valley Low Profile Habitat Blend Mix (lb)

Peaceful Valley Low Profile Habitat Blend Mix combines low-growing legumes and fine fescues with a succession of flowering annuals and perennials. It is intended for insectary strips, orchard or vineyard borders, low-profile habitat plantings, erosion protection, and sites where plant diversity is more important than a uniform turf appearance.

The legume portion includes trefoil, red clover, crimson clover, Campeda, Losa, and Antas subclovers, white clover, Nitro Persian clover, and balansa clover. Creeping red fescue and hard fescue add fibrous roots and durable ground coverage. Baby’s breath, California poppy, alyssum, white yarrow, lacy phacelia, and sweet mignonette provide varied flower forms and bloom periods for pollinators and beneficial insects.

Sow onto a clean, firm seedbed in fall where winters are mild or in spring in colder regions. Cover lightly and maintain moisture through establishment. For longer bloom and habitat value, avoid mowing the entire planting at once; trim sections sequentially and allow some flowers to mature. Plant height and persistence will vary among species and with irrigation, soil, and mowing.
