Description

Peaceful Valley Nitro-Max Plow Down Mix is a cool-season legume blend developed for seasonal soil coverage, biomass production, and green-manure plantings. The current formulation contains Common Vetch VNS, Keystone Field Pea, and Bell Bean VNS.

The three legumes provide complementary growth habits and can support nitrogen fixation when compatible Rhizobium bacteria are present. Grow the stand until early flowering, then mow or incorporate it according to soil conditions and crop-rotation timing.

  • Contains: Common Vetch VNS (Vicia sativa), Keystone Field Pea (Pisum sativum ‘Keystone’), and Bell Bean VNS (Vicia faba)
  • Application rate: 3–5 lb per 1,000 sq ft or approximately 70–120 lb per acre
  • Germination: Approximately 5–10 days under favorable conditions
  • Plant height: Approximately 3 feet
  • Planting time: Late summer or fall in mild-winter areas, or early spring where fall establishment is unreliable
  • Seed treatment and inoculant: Treatment status for the current formulation has not yet been verified. Check the package label or contact us before selecting an inoculant.
