Peaceful Valley Winter Edible Cover Crop Mix is a raw-seed blend of small-seeded fava beans, Biomaster peas, yellow peas, and sugar snap peas. These cool-season legumes provide winter or early-spring soil cover, nitrogen fixation, taproot growth, green-manure biomass, and the option to harvest some pods before terminating the remainder of the stand.

Plant in fall in mild-winter regions or in early spring in colder climates. Sow into a firm, well-drained seedbed in full sun, cover according to soil texture, and maintain moisture through establishment. For the greatest soil-building value, leave most plants growing until shortly before flowering or pod maturity, then mow and incorporate or leave residue at the surface. Allow decomposition time before planting a following crop.

Pods intended for eating should be harvested at the appropriate stage and prepared as you would the corresponding garden crop. The seed sold for planting is not packaged as food and should not be eaten directly. People with dietary sensitivities to fava beans or legumes should follow appropriate medical guidance.
