Popular size makes four 2" blocks in one stroke. Use it for starting seeds or for "potting on" seedlings that have been given a quick start in 3/4" Mini-Blocks (see insert pins).

  • Made from zinc-coated, solid steel
  • Unit is 2" x 8" x 9" tall, including the handle
  • Comes with 5/8" seed pins
  • Can use PVFS Quickroot as a potting medium

Please note the Cubic pins or 1"Dowel pins are sold separately.

In Europe, free-standing blocks of soil, rather than peat pots or seed flats, are almost universally used for starting vegetable and flower seeds. No containers are needed. To make the soil blocks, just fill a blocker with thoroughly moistened potting mix (Quickroot Soilless Potting Mix is perfect), set the blocker on a seed flat, and release. With one stroke you’ll create multiple soil blocks, each with a small depression in the top for the seed. When the seedlings are ready, plant them in the ground or bring them along further by dropping the soil blocks into openings in the tops of larger soil blocks (all discussed in the product descriptions). It is important to keep the soil blocks well watered with a fine mist. Imported from England, our soil blockers are the highest quality on the market.

Great addition

Fitted with the 3/4" inserts, they are perfect for transplanting the 3/4" soil blocker starts. Great addition to my garden tool shed.

I think this is going to be fun!

I like moist soil anyway and this seems to be the best way to start seedlings. I'm off to a late start this 2018--who isn't? Weird weather!- but I've got lots of seeds I want to start later in the season, after the early season tomato-mania is through!

I have used soil blockers for over 15 years and would not use anything else. I recently purchased this one for our school garden program. The children could easily use it.

So Easy to Use

I love this tool, very easy to make your own soil blocks. I use the PVFS Quickroot for the medium and it works great. The blocks hold together very well, getting rid of my plastic pots!

Excellent Tool

I love this tool. It works beautifully and is of very solid construction, I forsee this being in my tool shed for many years to come. Way smaller and easier to store than a bunch of pots or trays. Seed starting was so fast with the soil blocker, I mean it even makes the holes for you.
