Fruit is greenish with a red blush and the flesh is yellow. Very easy to pollinate with another Japanese plum variety or another pluot selection.

The Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is a remarkable fruit tree that has gained popularity among orchard enthusiasts for its unique characteristics and exceptional fruit. This semi-dwarf tree offers not only a bountiful harvest but also a visually striking addition to any garden.

The Visual Appeal: A Mesmerizing Tree and Fruit

The Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is a sight to behold in any orchard. Its semi-dwarf nature means that it reaches a manageable height, making it suitable for both small and large gardens. The tree boasts a beautiful canopy of dark green leaves, which create an inviting shade during hot summer days. Its structure is compact and elegant, making it an aesthetically pleasing addition to any landscape.

The fruit of the Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is equally captivating. The pluots, a hybrid between plums and apricots, have a distinctive elongated shape, resembling that of a hand grenade. The fruit has a smooth skin that transitions from a vibrant green to a golden-yellow hue when fully ripened. The juxtaposition of green and yellow on the fruit's skin adds to its visual allure, making it an eye-catching choice for both home gardeners and commercial orchards.

Taste Explosion: Flavor Profile

The Flavor Grenade Pluot lives up to its name when it comes to taste. Its flavor profile is a delightful explosion of sweetness and complexity that sets it apart from other stone fruits. When you take a bite, you'll first encounter a burst of honey-like sweetness, followed by subtle hints of tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango. The fruit's firm flesh provides a satisfying crunch, and its juiciness ensures a refreshing eating experience.

One of the outstanding features of the Flavor Grenade Pluot is its exceptional balance of sweetness and acidity. This balance not only makes it a delightful snack but also a versatile ingredient in a variety of culinary creations. Whether used in salads, desserts, jams, or simply enjoyed fresh off the tree, its flavor is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Distinguishing Characteristics: A Unique Fruit Tree

The Flavor Grenade Pluot tree stands out from other fruit trees for several reasons. Firstly, its unique fruit shape and striking green-yellow coloration make it instantly recognizable in an orchard. This distinctive appearance sets it apart from more traditional plum and apricot trees.

Another noteworthy characteristic is the tree's semi-dwarf stature. This makes it an excellent choice for those with limited space or those looking to manage their orchard with ease. Despite its smaller size, the tree produces an abundant yield of pluots, ensuring a fruitful harvest.

Additionally, the Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is known for its disease resistance and adaptability to a wide range of climates. This robustness makes it an attractive option for both experienced and novice fruit growers, as it requires less maintenance compared to some other fruit tree varieties.

The Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is a visually stunning and delectable addition to any orchard. Its semi-dwarf nature, distinctive fruit shape and color, exceptional taste, and adaptability make it a stand-out choice for gardeners and orchard enthusiasts. Whether you're looking to enhance your landscape or savor the unique flavors of its fruit, the Flavor Grenade Pluot tree is a delightful choice that will continue to captivate fruit lovers for generations to come.

About Plumcots: A precocious bearer with regular heavy production. Developed by Zaiger. Low chill hours, good choice for milder climates. The fruit holds well on the tree, staying firm for as long as two weeks after maturity. A precocious bearer with regular heavy production. Developed by Zaiger. The Plumcot is "Interspecific" meaning it is a complex hybrid of 70 percent plum, 30 percent apricot with decidedly more plum-like traits. Smooth-skinned like a plum, the plumcot is sturdy and durable with luscious flavor. It has the chin-dripping juiciness of a fully ripe plum without the notoriously tough skin and tart center typical of the parent plum. The complex, intense flavor of plumcot is unique to interspecifics, much like a blend of fruit juices where the mixture is an improvement over any of the separate ingredients. About Citation Rootstock: Citation Rootstock is tolerant of wet soil, induces early dormancy in dry soil, is very winter hardy, resists root knot nematodes, and produces a 12'-18' tree. By pruning you can keep your tree at any height.

Guarantee

Limited Dormant Tree & Plant Guarantee

* Claim deadline is June 15th

We guarantee that your dormant tree or plant will arrive in good, viable condition. If your tree arrives in substandard condition, notify us within 3 days of delivery. Please email pictures of the box, inside packaging, the tree and its roots to helpdesk@groworganic.com.  We will investigate your claim and process a request to exchange or refund the damaged product.

If your dormant tree or plant has not grown new leaves by June 15th, you may be eligible for our Limited Dormant Tree & Plant Guarantee. This guarantee provides for a store credit for the purchase price of the tree, excluding shipping. Please see the Instructions below.

Important Dates:

  • April 1st Dormant trees/plants must be planted in the ground
  • May 15th Perform scratch test, if no new leaves have grown
  • June 15th Deadline to apply for a dormant tree/plant credit

All required documentation must be received by June 15th for your claim to be considered. Claims or documentation received after June 15th will be denied, without exception. Instructions listed below

Terms and Conditions

We cannot guarantee that your tree or plant will remain alive and healthy after it is received, or bear fruit as there are too many variables in your environment that are beyond our control (i.e. soil preparation, weed and pest control, proper irrigation, chill hours, compatible hardiness for your growing zone, proper choice of pollinator, extreme weather, rodent damage, disease, etc.).

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide a replacement tree/plant of the same species either that same growing season or in future years. Customers are responsible for all shipping fees associated with replacement trees and plants.

If we determine that the tree you purchased directly from us is not viable, we will issue you a store credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of the affected dormant tree or plant. Shipping is not included in the dormant tree/plant guarantee. Store credits can be used to purchase any product we sell and are valid for use only until July 1st of the following year.

Historically, 98% of our dormant trees and plants grow and thrive when they have been cared for and planted using our growing guides. Dormant trees and plants must be planted in the ground by April 1st in order to be eligible for credit. If the ground in your area is still frozen solid, you may temporarily plant your tree or plant in a pot.

Potted, non-dormant trees or plants are excluded from this guarantee as they are not dormant at the time of shipment. Evergreen trees such as citrus, avocado and olive trees are not available for credit under the Dormant Tree and Plant Guarantee.

Instructions

We guarantee that your dormant fruit tree or plant will leaf out, if you care for it according to our growing guides. In the unlikely event that your dormant tree or plant does not have leaves by May 15th, follow these simple steps to apply for a store credit:

Before you call or email, please perform a “scratch test” to determine if the tree or plant is still alive. This video shows how to check for live tissue under the bark. Scratch tests need to be done a few inches above and below the graft.

Green Cambium Layer / Living Trees

If the cambium layer under the bark is green, give your tree a little more time. It is still alive, but hasn’t come out of dormancy yet. Check to make sure that it is getting the right amount of deep root water, enough sunlight and that the weather is warm enough for that type of tree/plant to come out of dormancy. Every tree has its own personality and will come out of dormancy at different times. Be sure to submit the required documentation listed below by June 15th, if it doesn’t grow leaves.

Brown Cambium Layer / Dead Trees

If the scratch test shows a brown cambium layer or if your dormant tree/plant doesn’t have leaves by June 1st, please email us at helpdesk@groworganic.com. All required documentation listed below must be received by June 15th for your claim to be considered. To be considered for the guarantee claim, all required documentation must be received by June 15th.  Incomplete submissions will be denied.

Required Documentation

  1. Order number
  2. Name of dormant tree/plant and the quantity affected
  3. Photos of each tree or plant showing:
    1. The roots (tree or plant must be pulled out of the ground)
    2. The scratch test areas
    3. The entire tree/plant

We reserve the right to not issue credit for items that have already been replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence that the tree/plant was not killed by root rot, rodent or mechanical damage.

My third bareroot tree and doing great!

My third bareroot tree from this company is doing great. It is the Flavor Grenade Plumcot tree. I live in North Idaho where it is still very cold, but we followed the instructions in planting it and it's starting to bud!

The two other trees I purchased two years ago are also doing great. We dug holes in the Fall before the frost, so when the bareroot trees arrived, we could easily plant them. Those two trees are doing great! One is the three in one Cherry tree and the other is the three in one Pluot tree. They have grown a lot and look very healthy. They too are starting to bud. I am very hopeful that I will get fruit this year on these older two trees.

So Far So Good

I ordered five bare root trees (of different varieties). They arrived in good shape and are large sized compared to other trees I've ordered from other online retailers. They have all leafed out and appear to be growing fine. Their customer service responses by email were timely.

My only quibble is they ship all orders really early (late January) when in my area the ground is still frozen and there's a foot or two of snow on the ground. I put them all in a large pot with potting soil in the garage and watered once a month before planting in March. I was a little worried they'd freeze out (got down to 25 F in the garage) or the roots would rot, but it turned out okay. It was just something I had to work around. It would be nicer if they shipped them by zone (still dormant) when they can be planted in the ground right away, which is obviously easier for customers but harder for them to coordinate, but is more in line with other online retailers' I've bought from.

Dead tree and broken branches

When I received the bare root tree, on March 26, 2022, there were several broken small branches. I then followed the directions and put the tree roots to soak in water for several hours, then plated the tree. It is now May 7, 2022 and it has not shown any sign of life. The leaf buds are not swelling or showing any sign of life. This is my 2nd bare root tree from Peaceful Valley/ Grow Organic that has never produced, that I will never buy bare root trees again, from Peaceful Valley or any other supplier.

Pluots

Ordered two pluots. The bareroot trees arrived in great shape. Planted them later in good sized pots and have been watering them weekly. The leaf growth is quite amazing and they look wonderfully health. Looking forward to their first harvest!
