How to Build a Raised Garden Box
Raised beds are a great way to maintain a beautiful garden, but over time wooden and low-quality frames can deteriorate. These concrete garden box kits are a great option for beautiful, long-lasting garden beds.
Durable, Long-Lasting Raised Garden Beds
Unlike wood, these durable concrete blocks will not rot, ensuring your garden box remains stable and attractive year after year. This interlocking system is modular and can be customized to meet your garden's specific needs.
Kit Options
- Four-Foot-Wide Beds: Enough blocks to build two garden boxes, each 4 feet wide, 8 feet long, and 15 inches high.
- Three-Foot-Wide Beds: Enough blocks to build four garden boxes, each 3 feet wide, 6 feet long, and 15 inches high.
Both kits come in a natural, attractive color and include interlocking side and corner bricks for easy installation. The innovative corner units feature short and long sides for automatic joint staggering between layers, ensuring stability and durability.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prepare the Area: Select a flat, level surface for your garden box. Install weed fabric to prevent weeds, and add gravel for better drainage.
- Lay the Base: Create trenches if you need underground irrigation. Install a second layer of weed fabric over the gravel inside the beds.
- Add Gopher Protection: If gophers are a concern, lay down a layer of gopher wire for added protection.
- Assemble the Box: Stack and interlock the blocks, periodically checking that they are level. Uneven blocks may destabilize the garden box.
- Reinforce If Needed: Use the built-in holes for reinforcement rods or trellising poles. If preferred, plug the holes with the provided plugs.
- Fill the Box: Add organic soil mix and install your drip irrigation system for easy watering.
