Lots of Delicious Cherries on One Tree!

The 2-in-1 Cherry Tree is the perfect space-saving choice for cherry lovers, offering multiple sweet cherry varieties on a single tree. Each grafted branch produces a distinct cherry type that ripens at a different time, extending your harvest season and bringing rich, juicy flavors from early to late spring. From deep red to golden-blushed fruit, this tree delivers an irresistible mix of sweet and firm cherries ideal for fresh eating, baking, and preserving. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, this multi-grafted cherry tree is an excellent addition to home orchards, small gardens, and edible landscapes alike.

In spring, the tree dazzles with clouds of white blossoms that attract pollinators and add stunning ornamental appeal to your garden. Requiring moderate chill hours, this tree performs well in a variety of climates and ensures reliable yields thanks to its self-pollinating grafted varieties. Compact, productive, and beautiful, the 2-in-1 Cherry Tree is a perfect blend of form and function for any cherry enthusiast.

Standard on Mazzard rootstock with 2–4 sweet cherry varieties.

Possible varieties may include: Black Tartarian, Bing, Lapins, and Van.

  • Zones: 4–9
  • Chill hours: 600–800
  • Harvest: May 10 – June 15
  • Looks: Deep red to dark purple cherries with glossy skin and firm, juicy flesh.
  • Personality: All varieties feature superbly sweet flavor, rich aroma, and smooth texture.
  • Facts of note: Selected for flavor, productivity, and adaptability—favorites for colder regions with moderate chill winters. Includes one cold-hardy variety, one heavy producer, and two outstanding flavor selections.
  • Pollination: Grafted varieties pollinate each other for reliable fruit set.

The 2-in-1 Cherry Tree showcases the best of both worlds—ornamental beauty and edible abundance. With two or more classic cherry varieties grafted onto one hardy rootstock, it offers convenience, efficiency, and a prolonged cherry harvest from a single tree. This multi-grafted wonder is an excellent choice for those who love the flavor of homegrown cherries but have limited garden space.

Key Features of the 2-in-1 Cherry Tree:

  1. Multiple Varieties on One Tree: Combines several sweet cherry varieties—such as Bing, Lapins, Van, and Black Tartarian—on one tree for a variety of colors and flavors.
  2. Extended Harvest: Enjoy a longer picking season as each graft ripens at a different time, giving you cherries from early to late spring.
  3. Space Efficiency: Perfect for small gardens or patios, offering the yield of multiple trees in one compact form.
  4. Cold-Tolerant: Performs well in cooler regions, providing dependable harvests year after year.
  5. Beautiful Blossoms: Produces masses of white flowers each spring, enhancing the landscape with ornamental appeal before fruit sets.

Cultivating and Caring for Your 2-in-1 Cherry Tree:

Follow these guidelines to ensure your multi-grafted cherry tree thrives and produces abundant fruit:

  1. Location: Choose a full-sun site with well-draining soil. Ensure at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal fruiting.
  2. Planting: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and deep enough to position the graft union 2 inches above soil level. Water deeply after planting and apply mulch to conserve moisture.
  3. Pruning: Prune during dormancy to balance growth among grafts and remove dead or crossing branches. Maintain an open canopy for sunlight and airflow.
  4. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during bloom and fruiting periods. Avoid overwatering to prevent root issues.
  5. Fertilization: Apply a balanced organic fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth and fruit development.
  6. Pest and Disease Management: Watch for aphids, cherry fruit fly, and fungal diseases. Use organic pest control and proper sanitation practices for best results.

The 2-in-1 Cherry Tree is a living showcase of flavor diversity and garden beauty. Combining classic sweet cherry varieties on a single tree, it ensures an extended harvest, efficient space use, and years of delicious, homegrown fruit for your kitchen and table.

Planting & Care

To increase survival rate of grafts it is important not to let one graft overtake the tree. If the different fruit varieties (the limbs) are not well-spread on your trees, use a spreader to separate them. Always plant the smallest limb (the “weakest” bud) to the south/southwest to insure that it gets plenty of sun. Prune back the strongest growing varieties by 2/3. Prune back the weakest variety by 1/2 — or not at all. During the summer, watch the growth-rate of the smaller limbs to determine if pruning is necessary at that time. If the weakest variety is 1/2 the size of the others, it’s best not to cut it back. Prune back the more aggressive limbs. Summer-prune when necessary in order to let sunlight get to all the developing varieties. Keep even sunlight available to all the developing selections. After the third season, maintain the multi-budded tree so that each fruit-type grows in balance with the others. NOTE: Varieties of grafts may change due to uncontrollable factors. Suggested spacing is 20 feet apart.

Guarantee

Limited Dormant Tree & Plant Guarantee

* Claim deadline is June 15th

We guarantee that your dormant tree or plant will arrive in good, viable condition. If your tree arrives in substandard condition, notify us within 3 days of delivery. Please email pictures of the box, inside packaging, the tree and its roots to helpdesk@groworganic.com.  We will investigate your claim and process a request to exchange or refund the damaged product.

If your dormant tree or plant has not grown new leaves by June 15th, you may be eligible for our Limited Dormant Tree & Plant Guarantee. This guarantee provides for a store credit for the purchase price of the tree, excluding shipping. Please see the Instructions below.

Important Dates:

  • April 1st Dormant trees/plants must be planted in the ground
  • May 15th Perform scratch test, if no new leaves have grown
  • June 15th Deadline to apply for a dormant tree/plant credit

All required documentation must be received by June 15th for your claim to be considered. Claims or documentation received after June 15th will be denied, without exception. Instructions listed below

Terms and Conditions

We cannot guarantee that your tree or plant will remain alive and healthy after it is received, or bear fruit as there are too many variables in your environment that are beyond our control (i.e. soil preparation, weed and pest control, proper irrigation, chill hours, compatible hardiness for your growing zone, proper choice of pollinator, extreme weather, rodent damage, disease, etc.).

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide a replacement tree/plant of the same species either that same growing season or in future years. Customers are responsible for all shipping fees associated with replacement trees and plants.

If we determine that the tree you purchased directly from us is not viable, we will issue you a store credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of the affected dormant tree or plant. Shipping is not included in the dormant tree/plant guarantee. Store credits can be used to purchase any product we sell and are valid for use only until July 1st of the following year.

Historically, 98% of our dormant trees and plants grow and thrive when they have been cared for and planted using our growing guides. Dormant trees and plants must be planted in the ground by April 1st in order to be eligible for credit. If the ground in your area is still frozen solid, you may temporarily plant your tree or plant in a pot.

Potted, non-dormant trees or plants are excluded from this guarantee as they are not dormant at the time of shipment. Evergreen trees such as citrus, avocado and olive trees are not available for credit under the Dormant Tree and Plant Guarantee.

Instructions

We guarantee that your dormant fruit tree or plant will leaf out, if you care for it according to our growing guides. In the unlikely event that your dormant tree or plant does not have leaves by May 15th, follow these simple steps to apply for a store credit:

Before you call or email, please perform a “scratch test” to determine if the tree or plant is still alive. This video shows how to check for live tissue under the bark. Scratch tests need to be done a few inches above and below the graft.

Green Cambium Layer / Living Trees

If the cambium layer under the bark is green, give your tree a little more time. It is still alive, but hasn’t come out of dormancy yet. Check to make sure that it is getting the right amount of deep root water, enough sunlight and that the weather is warm enough for that type of tree/plant to come out of dormancy. Every tree has its own personality and will come out of dormancy at different times. Be sure to submit the required documentation listed below by June 15th, if it doesn’t grow leaves.

Brown Cambium Layer / Dead Trees

If the scratch test shows a brown cambium layer or if your dormant tree/plant doesn’t have leaves by June 1st, please email us at helpdesk@groworganic.com. All required documentation listed below must be received by June 15th for your claim to be considered. To be considered for the guarantee claim, all required documentation must be received by June 15th.  Incomplete submissions will be denied.

Required Documentation

  1. Order number
  2. Name of dormant tree/plant and the quantity affected
  3. Photos of each tree or plant showing:
    1. The roots (tree or plant must be pulled out of the ground)
    2. The scratch test areas
    3. The entire tree/plant

We reserve the right to not issue credit for items that have already been replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence that the tree/plant was not killed by root rot, rodent or mechanical damage.

Hearty tree

Almost 4ft tall with 3/4 inch thick branches when recieved. Tree is healthy and strong even though I didn't put it in the ground right away.

Bad Rootstock

I've had this tree for about 7 years now. The Rootstock used on this tree is terrible. I have suckers popping up in my lawn 35 feet away from the tree. I must have about 40 suckers on the lawn. If you pull the root up it's about the size of a TV cable line and is only about 2 inches under down in the soil. I'm at the point where I need to tear out the tree because someone decided it would be good to use a bad rootstock. Oh, and this tree was sold as a semi dwarf. The tree is about 7 years old and is nearly a foot in diameter....I wouldn't call that a Semi-Dwarf.

Much larger than expected

Received 2 of these 3 on 1 sweet cherries (maxma dwarfing root stock with bing, black tartarian, lapins, and van cherry) on Jan 14th and planted them on the 15th. I’m in Zone 7a and was lucky enough to be experiencing a 50 degree heatwave instead of a freeze (although it went into the teens 4 days after planting). I soaked the roots for about 4 hours before planting. Trimmed a few damaged roots but all branches were intact and no damage. Followed your videos on how to plant the bare root trees and all went well. Used some azomite, earthworm castings, mycorrhizae and bone meal during the planting. Covered with about 3” of mulch after watering them in. Very thick trunks (3/4 inch to 1 inch thick). Very hearty looking. Wish I could add some pictures, but no option to include with the review. No buds or any indication of growth yet, but hey, it’s only Feb. 23rd. Looking forward to spring and cherries in a few years.
