The Multi-Grafted Sweet Cherry Tree is the perfect solution for cherry lovers. This unique tree combines several sweet cherry varieties on a single standard-sized tree, allowing you to enjoy multiple types of cherries from just one tree. Each grafted branch produces a distinct variety of cherry, ripening at different times to extend your harvest season. From deep red to golden blush cherries, this tree offers a variety of juicy, flavorful fruit that’s perfect for fresh eating, baking, or preserving.
Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, this tree can grow up to feet tall and requires moderate chill hours. Understanding Multi-Grafted Fruit Trees
Multi-grafted fruit trees, also known as multi-budded or combination fruit trees, are the result of grafting multiple fruit varieties onto a single rootstock. In the case of the Multi-Grafted Sweet Cherry Standard, several sweet cherry varieties are carefully grafted onto one standard trunk. This innovative approach allows you to enjoy a diverse range of cherry flavors and colors while conserving valuable garden space.
Selecting the Right Location
Choosing the right location for your Multi-Grafted Sweet Cherry Standard is crucial for its long-term health and productivity. Ensure the tree receives full sun, which typically means at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. Well-drained soil is essential to prevent root rot and other diseases.
Planting and Care
When planting your Multi-Grafted Sweet Cherry Standard, dig a hole that is as deep as the root ball and twice as wide. Carefully place the tree in the hole, making sure the graft union is at least 2 inches above the soil level. Water thoroughly after planting, and add mulch around the base to conserve moisture and control weeds.
Regular pruning is essential to maintain the shape and health of your multi-grafted tree. Remove any dead or diseased branches and ensure that each grafting point has room to grow. Fertilize according to the specific needs of the cherry varieties on your tree, as different varieties may have varying nutrient requirements.
Harvesting Cherries
As your Multi-Grafted Sweet Cherry Standard matures, you can expect a diverse array of cherry flavors and colors. Harvest cherries when they are fully ripe, which is typically indicated by their color and ease of detachment from the stem. Be sure to use a gentle touch to avoid damaging the fruit or the grafting points.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
To increase survival rate of grafts it is important not to let one graft overtake the tree. If the different fruit varieties (the limbs) are not well-spread on your trees, use a spreader to separate them. Always plant the smallest limb (the “weakest” bud) to the south/southwest to insure that it gets plenty of sun. Prune back the strongest growing varieties by 2/3. Prune back the weakest variety by 1/2 — or not at all. During the summer, watch the growth-rate of the smaller limbs to determine if pruning is necessary at that time. If the weakest variety is 1/2 the size of the others, it’s best not to cut it back. Prune back the more aggressive limbs. Summer-prune when necessary in order to let sunlight get to all the developing varieties. Keep even sunlight available to all the developing selections. After the third season, maintain the multi-budded tree so that each fruit-type grows in balance with the others. NOTE: Varieties of grafts may change due to uncontrollable factors. Suggested spacing is 20 feet apart.

Terms and Conditions
We cannot guarantee that your tree or plant will remain alive and healthy after it is received, or bear fruit as there are too many variables in your environment that are beyond our control (i.e. soil preparation, weed and pest control, proper irrigation, chill hours, compatible hardiness for your growing zone, proper choice of pollinator, extreme weather, rodent damage, disease, etc.).
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide a replacement tree/plant of the same species either that same growing season or in future years. Customers are responsible for all shipping fees associated with replacement trees and plants.
If we determine that the tree you purchased directly from us is not viable, we will issue you a store credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of the affected dormant tree or plant. Shipping is not included in the dormant tree/plant guarantee. Store credits can be used to purchase any product we sell and are valid for use only until July 1st of the following year.
Historically, 98% of our dormant trees and plants grow and thrive when they have been cared for and planted using our growing guides. Dormant trees and plants must be planted in the ground by April 1st in order to be eligible for credit. If the ground in your area is still frozen solid, you may temporarily plant your tree or plant in a pot.
Potted, non-dormant trees or plants are excluded from this guarantee as they are not dormant at the time of shipment. Evergreen trees such as citrus, avocado and olive trees are not available for credit under the Dormant Tree and Plant Guarantee.
Instructions
We guarantee that your dormant fruit tree or plant will leaf out, if you care for it according to our growing guides. In the unlikely event that your dormant tree or plant does not have leaves by May 15th, follow these simple steps to apply for a store credit:
Before you call or email, please perform a “scratch test” to determine if the tree or plant is still alive. This video shows how to check for live tissue under the bark. Scratch tests need to be done a few inches above and below the graft.
Green Cambium Layer / Living Trees
If the cambium layer under the bark is green, give your tree a little more time. It is still alive, but hasn’t come out of dormancy yet. Check to make sure that it is getting the right amount of deep root water, enough sunlight and that the weather is warm enough for that type of tree/plant to come out of dormancy. Every tree has its own personality and will come out of dormancy at different times. Be sure to submit the required documentation listed below by June 15th, if it doesn’t grow leaves.
Brown Cambium Layer / Dead Trees
If the scratch test shows a brown cambium layer or if your dormant tree/plant doesn’t have leaves by June 1st, please email us at helpdesk@groworganic.com. All required documentation listed below must be received by June 15th for your claim to be considered. To be considered for the guarantee claim, all required documentation must be received by June 15th. Incomplete submissions will be denied.
Required Documentation
- Order number
- Name of dormant tree/plant and the quantity affected
- Photos of each tree or plant showing:
- The roots (tree or plant must be pulled out of the ground)

We reserve the right to not issue credit for items that have already been replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence that the tree/plant was not killed by root rot, rodent or mechanical damage.

Almost 4ft tall with 3/4 inch thick branches when recieved. Tree is healthy and strong even though I didn't put it in the ground right away.
I've had this tree for about 7 years now. The Rootstock used on this tree is terrible. I have suckers popping up in my lawn 35 feet away from the tree. I must have about 40 suckers on the lawn. If you pull the root up it's about the size of a TV cable line and is only about 2 inches under down in the soil. I'm at the point where I need to tear out the tree because someone decided it would be good to use a bad rootstock. Oh, and this tree was sold as a semi dwarf. The tree is about 7 years old and is nearly a foot in diameter....I wouldn't call that a Semi-Dwarf.
Received 2 of these 3 on 1 sweet cherries (maxma dwarfing root stock with bing, black tartarian, lapins, and van cherry) on Jan 14th and planted them on the 15th. I’m in Zone 7a and was lucky enough to be experiencing a 50 degree heatwave instead of a freeze (although it went into the teens 4 days after planting). I soaked the roots for about 4 hours before planting. Trimmed a few damaged roots but all branches were intact and no damage. Followed your videos on how to plant the bare root trees and all went well. Used some azomite, earthworm castings, mycorrhizae and bone meal during the planting. Covered with about 3” of mulch after watering them in. Very thick trunks (3/4 inch to 1 inch thick). Very hearty looking. Wish I could add some pictures, but no option to include with the review. No buds or any indication of growth yet, but hey, it’s only Feb. 23rd. Looking forward to spring and cherries in a few years.
Very happy with the purchase..Got 4 varieties instead of 3. the tree arrived properly packaged with roots covered with saw dust.. planted next day and in 2 weeks see many new growth. Will definitely buy again next year!
I just received this tree about a week and a half ago and it was delivered with 3 other trees that I had ordered. The trees were packaged well and I couldn’t believe how healthy they looked after traveling across the country in a cardboard box for a week. This tree was extremely sturdy looking and all 4 grafts were a nice size. I had a hard time picking one to face south when planting it. I stored the trees overnight in moist pine shavings and planted them the next afternoon. I followed the detailed instructions that came with the trees and all seems to have gone well, only time will tell. Customer service was awesome and the company is great, I couldn’t recommend them more!
