Seeds arrived quickly and in good condition. Cannot wait to try the purple variety as we have had luck with the standard green. Looking forward to trying barbecued like a previous review mentioned as we have only eaten it raw for snacks and in salads.
Grew this for the first time this year and not sure what to expect. The plant can get pretty large but only eat the enlarged stem portion. I removed the leaves (gave them to my chickens) and peeled the skin. Chopped up and steamed in a little water. They were a big hit. They taste like a cross between a turnip and a broccoli. Very good, just sprinkled a little salt. Will grow this again.
I got great germination rates. I tried direct seeding on year and starting in trays another and had much better results with trays. I got them in the garden a bit late but the plants still grew well. Kohlrabi is really delicious barbecued.
