Organic Pea, Shoots (1/2 lb)

Easy to Grow and Tasty on Sandwiches

Pea - Shoots - Pisum sativum

Annual Heirloom. Pea shoots are easy to grow and a fun project to do with your kids. They have a crunchy texture and taste like fresh peas. Use on sandwiches, pasta, salads or stir-fry. Best flavor and texture when harvested at about 3" tall.

Did You Know? Pea shoots have seven times more vitamin C than blueberries and also contain vitamin A, and folic acid.

Soil and Water: Plant in a tray with drainage holes in either potting soil or a soilless medium. Keep moist but not soaking. Will need to use a tray with no holes to catch any drainage.

Planting and Growing: Pre-soak seeds in water for 8-12 hours before planting. Scatter the soaked seeds thickly over the soil in the tray and just barely cover with soil. Keep seeds moist by misting or keep covered with a dome. Once seeds sprout, place in a bright sunny window or in a greenhouse with a temperature above 60°F.

Harvesting & Storage: Clip stems just above the soil line when they are 2-4" tall. Usually around 10-14 days after planting. Wash shoots and dry and store in refrigerator in a clean plastic bag for up to one week.
